How to Remove a Team Member

Suspend a former or inactive team member and remove them from active team views.

Use this guide when a person should no longer have active access to your church’s Vigilant Church Security team.

The Delete Member action is a suspension, not a permanent erasure. It removes the person from active team views and access while preserving historical records connected to their account.

Before you remove someone

  • Sign in with an Admin account. The Team Directory currently shows the edit and delete controls to Admin users.
  • Confirm you have selected the correct person, especially when team members have similar names.
  • Review upcoming schedules and reassign any future responsibilities that should move to another team member.
  • If the person is an administrator, make sure another trusted Admin can manage the church account before removing them.

Remove a team member

  1. Open Team from the left navigation.
  2. Use Search or the campus filter to find the person you need to remove.
  3. Select the pencil edit icon on the member’s card. You can also open the member card and then select Edit Member.
  4. In Edit Member, select the trash-can icon in the upper-right corner.
  5. Review the Delete Member confirmation and verify that it names the correct person.
  6. Select Delete Member. The edit window closes and the person is removed from the active Team Directory.
Select Cancel if the name is incorrect or you are not ready to suspend the member. The confirmation dialog does not provide an undo after you select Delete Member.

What happens after removal

  • The member’s account status changes to suspended and they disappear from active team views.
  • Their campus assignment and additional campus memberships are removed.
  • Any unused invitation link for that account is canceled.
  • Historical records remain connected to the member so prior activity is not erased.
  • The Team Directory does not currently provide a self-service restore action for a suspended member.

If you do not see the edit or delete controls

  • Confirm that you are signed in as an Admin. Even when another role can view Team, the current removal controls are shown only to Admin users.
  • Refresh Team after an administrator changes your role or access.
  • Ask another church Admin to complete the removal if you should not have administrator access.

If someone was removed by mistake

Email support@vigilantchurch.com for help reactivating the suspended account. Include the church name, the member’s name, and the requesting administrator’s contact information. Never send passwords, background-check reports, or other sensitive records.
